MagicCon: Las Vegas

We attended our first MagicCon last month - MagicCon: Las Vegas!
The team had a fantastic time amidst the chaos of tournaments, vendors, presentations, and cosplayers and content creators.
Booth Buddies with Star City Games
We were lucky to share a booth with Star City Games, setting up alongside them to promote the CardBot and support their operations.

As the Star City Games team bought collections, we were using the CardBot to scan the cards to keep a record of what had been purchased and it's value. This helped all the buyers stay aligned and avoid over-purchasing the same cards. It was a great example of the CardBot’s value in real-time, high-volume collection buying.
A Quick Pivot
We originally planned to spend our time demoing the CardBot to other vendors. As it turned out, the constant stream of players and collectors meant most vendors never had a spare moment to stop by.

That turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
Players and collectors were very interested in the CardBot and what it was doing. We quickly pivoted to giving live demos to the curious crowds gathering around it.
While the CardBot isn’t something players typically buy themselves, it is designed to be offered by stores as a service for players - scanning collections and creating instant digital inventories.
A Digital Strategy in Real Life
We’ve used this strategy online for a while - players who want their collection scanned can use our CardBots Near Me map to find the closest store offering the service, or tell us who their local store is so we can reach out.
Here, we got to do that in person. When players asked how they could get their own cards scanned, we asked them who their go-to local game store was. If that store didn’t have a CardBot yet, we made a note to get in touch. It was a great way to connect the dots between player demand and store opportunities.
